An authentic mini umbrella experience (30cm in diameter) brought to you by an active Wagasa craftsman. Using natural materials such as Japanese paper, bamboo, wood, and cotton, the mini umbrella, which can be opened and closed just like a real Wagasa, allows you to experience the beauty of the encounter between Japanese paper and bamboo. The mini umbrella making experience proceeds with almost the same process and work as a real Wagasa. Choose your favorite Japanese paper from a variety of colorful Japanese papers, and use homemade glue to make a 30cm mini umbrella. After drying, you can crease the umbrella, fold it, and take it home with you on the day."

  • Wagasa Demonstration: Watch a demonstration by the artisan showcasing traditional Wagasa making techniques.
  • Mini Wagasa Making Experience (Part 1):  Start crafting your own mini Wagasa.
  • Wagasa Rental: Choose a Wagasa to take photos with in front of the shop or take a 30-minute stroll through the Higashi Chaya district.
  • Mini Wagasa Making Experience (Part 2): Complete the creation of your mini Wagasa.

From Kanazawa Station:
Approximately 10 minutes by taxi.

By Bus:

Approximately 5-minute walk from Hashiba-cho bus stop. This stop is serviced by the Kenrokuen Shuttle Bus, Hokuriku Railroad Bus, and West Japan JR Bus.
Take the Kanazawa Flat Bus (Saimoku Route) and get off at "Kenrokuen-shita" stop. The workshop is a 3-minute walk from there.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Reservations:  Please make your reservation at least 7 days in advance.
    Late Arrivals:
  • Arriving more than 30 minutes late will result in cancellation of the entire experience.
    • Arriving more than 15 minutes late will result in participating in the mini Wagasa making portion of the workshop only.
    • Booking Confirmation:
      Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee your reservation. Your booking will be confirmed by email after it has been processed by the operating company.
  • Itinerary:
    A detailed itinerary will be sent to you by email once your reservation is confirmed.

Refunds:

  • You can cancel your reservation up to 4 days before the experience date for a full refund. Please contact us by 5:00 PM (Japan time).
  • A full refund will also be issued for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances on the part of the workshop.

Rescheduling:

Rescheduling is not possible after the cancellation policy has been applied. If you need to change the date, time, or number of participants before the cancellation deadline, please cancel your original booking and make a new reservation.
